Allenspark Wind Article for October 2025

The Tahosa Valley Landowners Association has been active in advocating for the preservation of the valley for 55 years.  From Forestry zoning and Baldpate land swaps, radio towers, wolf sanctuaries to Mountain Coaster and Glampground issues the goal being “to participate in the protection and promotion of the proper and orderly development of the land and natural resources of Tahosa Valley, Colorado, by an intelligent and systematic planning program.”  In short our goal has been “to preserve and protect.“

At our 2025 Annual Meeting in August we began the process of forging a new mission statement to reflect how the Valley and its residents have changed over the years.  Board member Eli Reese gave us an eloquent starting point with this Vision Statement:

“Our vision is a Tahosa Valley where natural beauty, dark skies, and rural character are preserved through collaborative stewardship, responsible land use, and a shared respect for the environment and community.”

To flesh this out we are creating a “working group” to meet over the next year to come up with a proposal to guide our activities for the next 50 years.  We welcome any interested parties to send an email to tvla@tahosavalleyylandowners.org  and help with this endeavor.

Other projects currently being pursued include tracking the progress of the Allenspark Fire District CWPP, encouraging fire mitigation, aligning county land use regulations and codes to support the mission, commenting on potential changes to the Forest Service Roadless rules (no change!), promoting Dark Skies (if Breckenridge can do it so can we!), and aiding landowners in the disposal of the barbed wire no longer necessary in our Valley.
